A little bit about me…
Jan 18th

Hello world! My name is Mike Hacku and I’m a graduate student at the beautiful Quinnipiac University in Handen,CT. The graduate program I’m in is called Interactive Communications, and it deals with the future of how people obtain media and other information digitally. I graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Print Journalism from Quinnipiac University in 2007, and I have worked in the past with the New Haven Register’s sports section. I took this graduate program because I realize the field of communications is ever-changing. Things such as news and other journalistic content are mediums that are becoming increasingly internet-based. In order to better equip myself for a long lasting and fulfilling career in the “future” of communications, I feel that this graduate program will be essential to my success.
My goal by entering the Interactive Communications graduate program is to show my future employers that I have an understanding of where the future of communications is going. These classes will allow me to hone my craft and develop the skills that will allow me to compete in this new and exciting digital movement. Journalism is becoming and interactive and non-linear media found online, and whether my future lies with a newspaper that is going digital or a sports network that relies on media relayed on portable devices, I will be better prepared for whatever comes next.
I just recently got into blogging and twitter. My main passions are not only sports but also music. I just started a new music blog over at www.mikehacku.blogspot.com and it’s become a lot of fun. My friends are always asking me for new music and I felt like this was a great way for me to share some of the songs I find and also do a little writing on the side to keep my brain fresh. There is so much great music out there that’s not on the radio, I almost find it a crime that some of this stuff doesn’t make the cut on mainstream radio. My favorite music site is probably www.hypem.com, and it takes all music that has been blogged from all over the world and places it onto one site. You can get lost on there, there’s a lot of good stuff. I’ve included a song I’m listening to right now at the bottom of this post.
I’m currently unemployed and living back in my hometown of Wallingford,CT, which is right down the road from Hamden. I have a 1 year old golden retriever named Sadie who keeps me occupied most days. I’m a die hard Yankee fan so I hope you can deal with that. I can’t wait to get started with the class, it should be fun!
